🔥 Nashville Hot Mozzarella Sticks

(1–2 servings)
Crispy, spicy, gooey, and dangerously addictive — these Nashville-style mozzarella sticks take fried cheese to a whole new level 🤤


🧀 Ingredients

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  • 5 mozzarella rectangles or sticks

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • 3 eggs

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs (start with 1 cup and add more if needed)

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to your spice tolerance)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (or garlic seasoning blend)

  • ½ tsp chili powder

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

  • Oil, for frying

For the Nashville Hot Coating

  • 2 tbsp hot frying oil (taken directly from the pan after frying)

  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for heat)

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp chili powder

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (or garlic seasoning)

  • Pinch of salt


🔥 Instructions

1. Prepare the dredging stations

Set up three bowls:

  • Bowl 1: Flour

  • Bowl 2: Whisked eggs + milk

  • Bowl 3: Panko mixed with paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper

2. Bread the mozzarella

Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip into the egg mixture, then press into the seasoned panko.
Repeat the egg + panko step 2–3 times to build an extra thick, crunchy crust.

3. Freeze

Place the coated sticks on a tray and freeze for 30 minutes to prevent bursting while frying.

4. Fry

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Fry the mozzarella sticks until golden brown and crispy, then transfer to a paper towel–lined plate.

5. Make the Nashville Hot Coating

In a small bowl, combine:

  • 2 tbsp hot frying oil

  • Cayenne

  • Smoked paprika

  • Chili powder

  • Garlic seasoning

  • Pinch of salt

Mix until smooth, then brush or toss the hot mozzarella sticks in this spicy seasoning oil.

6. Serve

Enjoy immediately while they’re crispy on the outside and gooey inside 🤤🔥
