**Cute & Easy Candy Apples 🍎✨

A Simple Homemade Treat!**

These glossy, bright red candy apples are surprisingly simple to make and turn out super cute! Perfect for parties, holidays, or gifting. Recipe below 👇🏼

Ingredients

  • 9 apples

  • 400 g caster sugar

  • 80 g golden syrup

  • 180 mL water

  • ½ tbsp vinegar

  • 1 tsp high-quality red food coloring

  • ¼ tsp cream of tartar

  • Bicarbonate of soda (for washing the apples)

  • Wooden sticks for dipping

Method

1. Prepare the apples

  1. Wash the apples in warm water with a small amount of bicarbonate of soda to remove any wax coating.

  2. Rinse well and dry completely—any moisture will prevent the toffee from sticking.

  3. Insert wooden sticks firmly into the top of each apple and set aside.

2. Make the toffee base

  1. In a deep saucepan, combine caster sugar, golden syrup, and water.

  2. Place over low heat and stir gently until the sugar has fully dissolved.

  3. Once dissolved, increase the heat and bring the mixture to a steady boil.

  4. Add ½ tbsp vinegar, then continue boiling without stirring.

3. Add color & reach the right temperature

  1. When the syrup reaches 130°C (266°F), add the red food coloring and cream of tartar.

  2. Continue boiling until it reaches 150°C (302°F) — the hard crack stage.

    • This is the key to getting a shiny, crisp candy shell.

4. Dip & set the apples

  1. Remove the pot from the heat.

  2. Working quickly (the syrup hardens fast!), dip each apple into the hot toffee.

  3. Turn the apple to coat it evenly on all sides.

  4. Place the coated apples on baking paper and let them set completely.
