**Cute & Easy Candy Apples 🍎✨
A Simple Homemade Treat!**
These glossy, bright red candy apples are surprisingly simple to make and turn out super cute! Perfect for parties, holidays, or gifting. Recipe below 👇🏼
Ingredients
-
9 apples
-
400 g caster sugar
-
80 g golden syrup
-
180 mL water
-
½ tbsp vinegar
-
1 tsp high-quality red food coloring
-
¼ tsp cream of tartar
-
Bicarbonate of soda (for washing the apples)
-
Wooden sticks for dipping
Method
1. Prepare the apples
-
Wash the apples in warm water with a small amount of bicarbonate of soda to remove any wax coating.
-
Rinse well and dry completely—any moisture will prevent the toffee from sticking.
-
Insert wooden sticks firmly into the top of each apple and set aside.
2. Make the toffee base
-
In a deep saucepan, combine caster sugar, golden syrup, and water.
-
Place over low heat and stir gently until the sugar has fully dissolved.
-
Once dissolved, increase the heat and bring the mixture to a steady boil.
-
Add ½ tbsp vinegar, then continue boiling without stirring.
3. Add color & reach the right temperature
-
When the syrup reaches 130°C (266°F), add the red food coloring and cream of tartar.
-
Continue boiling until it reaches 150°C (302°F) — the hard crack stage.
-
This is the key to getting a shiny, crisp candy shell.
-
4. Dip & set the apples
-
Remove the pot from the heat.
-
Working quickly (the syrup hardens fast!), dip each apple into the hot toffee.
-
Turn the apple to coat it evenly on all sides.
-
Place the coated apples on baking paper and let them set completely.
