🧀 Ingredients

For the Mozzarella Sticks:

  • 4 mozzarella rectangles (about 100 g total)

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tbsp milk

  • 1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (adjust to your spice preference)

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Neutral oil (for deep frying — canola or vegetable oil work best)

For the Chili Garlic Coating:

  • 2 tbsp chili oil (preferably with chili bits)

  • 1 tsp honey (optional, for sweetness and balance)

  • ½ tsp garlic seasoning

  • ¼ tsp crushed chili flakes (optional, for extra heat)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Coating

In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, chili flakes, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Mix well — this seasoned breadcrumb coating gives your mozzarella sticks an extra crunch and flavor kick.


2️⃣ Coat the Mozzarella

  1. Roll each mozzarella rectangle in flour, coating all sides.

  2. Dip into the beaten eggs mixed with milk, then roll in the seasoned panko mixture to coat evenly.

  3. For a thicker, crunchier crust, repeat the egg + panko step once more.

    • (This double coating helps prevent the cheese from leaking during frying!)


3️⃣ Freeze

Place coated mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 1 hour.
This step is essential — it keeps the cheese firm so it doesn’t burst while frying.


4️⃣ Fry to Perfection

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F / 175°C.

  2. Fry mozzarella sticks in small batches until golden and crispy, about 1–1½ minutes per side.

  3. Transfer to a wire rack or paper towel to drain excess oil.


5️⃣ Toss in Chili Garlic Oil

  1. In a small pan, gently heat chili oil, garlic seasoning, and honey (if using) for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.

  2. Toss the hot mozzarella sticks in this mixture until evenly coated and glistening.
