Crispy Butter Beans (High-Protein Vegan Snack) 😍🌱

Crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside — these golden butter bean bites might become your new favourite snack! Perfect for episode 4 of ✨High Protein Vegan✨, this quick recipe turns a humble can of beans into something seriously addictive.


Ingredients

  • 1 × 400 g can butter beans

  • 2 tsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt & pepper, to taste


Method

  1. Preheat:
    Heat your air fryer to 200°C.
    (You can also bake them in the oven; just allow a few extra minutes.)

  2. Prep the beans:
    Drain and rinse the butter beans thoroughly.
    Pat them completely dry using paper towels or a clean tea towel — this is key for crispiness!

  3. Season:
    Add the beans to a mixing bowl.
    Drizzle with olive oil, then add garlic powder, onion powder, mixed herbs, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
    Toss until evenly coated.

  4. Air fry:
    Spread the beans into your air fryer basket or tray in a single layer.
    Cook for 20 minutes, shaking or stirring halfway through to ensure even crisping.

  5. Serve:
    Let them cool slightly so they become even crispier.
    Enjoy immediately!

  • Dry well!
    Moisture is the biggest enemy of crispiness — make sure beans are fully dry before seasoning.

  • Oven instructions:
    Bake at 200°C for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway.
